Strengths: Good odor control,easy to use after the first few tries.

Weakness: Cost of the refills is questionable.

This is our first baby and we were happy with the product overallexcept with the concern of the cost of the refills. I really like not depositing the used diapers in my everyday refuse as it's not emptied everyday ,where as in the Genie it is contained.

I like the diaper genie. I agree that the cost of refills brings down the product a bit. However, the units that use trash bags instead of refills aren't as good at keeping out the odor. I don't think it's because of the refills, more that the diaper genie is constructed better. I will have to try it with trash bags as one other reviewer had suggested.

Keeps the smells away!!

Strengths: Seals in smells, easy to use, easy to change liner

Weakness: Smells when opened to empty, needs brand specific refills

After using the Diaper Champ and HATING it I decided to get the Diaper Genie 2. My friend had one for her son in their living room and you could not ever smell it. While our Diaper Champ stunk up my son's whole bedroom- especially if you closed the door. A Step Above

Strengths: Works better than most diaper disposal systems.

Weakness: At the end of the day it is still a plastic bag full of dirty diapers.

Playtex Diaper Genie II Diaper Disposal System

Strengths: Easy to use; good value; durable

Weakness: Refills don't last long

The Diaper Genie II is an excellent product for containing smelly diapers, thus lessening odors in the nursery. It is extremely easy to use. A good feature is the scissor edge available on the inside to cut the bag.

Works as advertised

Strengths: Eliminates Odors, ease of use

Weakness: Ongoing cost of refill plastic liner, Short life of plastic liner

We have used the unit for about 3 months now. This seems to be better than the Genie 1, because you don't have to twist the plastic in between each diaper. There are fingers and springs which hold the plastic liner together tightly to keep the odor inside. It is easy to use once you figure it out in the beginning.
